Goodstorm and ecommerce in Drupal

| |

Goodstorm has already delivered a great deal of new eCommerce functionality to Drupal, as well as the best enterprise use case for eCommerce in Drupal to date – and much much more is on the way.

Mark Burdett and Kieran Lal will be running an new session on Drupal eCommerce and the work that Goodstorm has done and is doing to extend it, and where people in the community can jump in and help out. They'll also briefly discuss Goodstorm itself and how Drupal users can use Goodstorm's service.

GoodStorm DrupalCon T-shirt Banner

GoodStorm is a fantastic site filled with good people that make t-shirts. Kieran of CivicSpace fame wanted me to make sure that more Drupal folks would be clicking through and buying a shirt. If you order it before Feb. 1st, they'll bring the t-shirts with them up to Vancouver.

So what are you waiting for? Go buy a DrupalCon t-shirt.

Drupal Guild and the open business model

| | | | |

Gregory Heller, Civic Actions to talk about Drupal Guild Concept and the open business model.

CivicActions is Professional Services firm specializing in Drupal deployment for progressive political and non-profit organizations.  We are building a business model tailored to open source developement and the open licensing that is at the core of our business.

We see the "Drupal Guild" concept as a way for similarly organized development firms and independent developers to organize in a manner consistent with the philosphy behind open source development and that will foster the growth of the open source ecology around Drupal.

Install, Update, and Dependencies

Moderator: Neil Drumm

Much can be done to improve Drupal's installation and updating systems. Many have asked for a simple Drupal installer, but there are many related issues. Both Drupal and individual modules must be installed, configured, and updated. There are other problems to think about- module metadata storage, dependencies, virtual packages, and error avoidance and recovery. We will review has been accomplished in 4.7, what code is out there now, and what is left to do.

Here is some code I found:

Installers
CivicSpace installer
danielc's Database Table Creation Script
lekei's Auto installer for Drupal 4.6 multi-site and modules
Dependencies and more
Vlado's tools
chx's simple dependencies
