OSCMS Cypress Skiing, snowboarding and XC/snowshoeing event
Open source lovers and whoever else want to meet go to local mountain, Cypress for some snow fun.
COST: $20 for return bus fare from downtown Vancouver to Cypress Mountain. Please bring cash and please pay Roland Tanglao. Rentals cost extra and are available at Cypress (cross country and snowshoe rental info, downhill and snowboard rental info and yes you can rent ski jackets and ski pants).
Ace Drupal developer, Neil Drumm, asked me to enumerate the costs for the snow event tomorrow Feb 8 (catch the bus at 5:15p.m. on the west side of the Vancouver Art Gallery) for those who are renting, so here they are:
- Snow shoe: $20 for bus, $30 for tour (includes guided tour and rental, you get 10% discount if you have your own snow shoes) - total $50 (must tell Roland 604 729 7924 or catch me at the conference by 3p.m. Tuesday)
- Cross country skiing: $20 for bus, $13.08 for trail ticket, $13.16 for rentals: Total: $47 if you don't have your own equipment, $33 if you do
- Down hill skiing and Snowboarding: $20 bus, $28.04 lift ticket, $32.46 rentals, Total: $80 if you don't have your own equipment, $48 if you do
MEET: 5:15p.m. on on the west side of the Vancouver Art Gallery, opposite 777 Hornby
Two groups:
1) cross country skiing and snow shoeing (coordinated by Roland Tanglao). Snow shoers must join the snow shoeing tour at 7p.m. which costs $30 (10% discount if you have your own snowshoes) since there are no lit trails and you must let me know by 3:00p.m. Tuesday February 7th (email roland AT rolandtanglao.com or call me 604 729 7924).
2) downhill skiing and snowboarding (coordinated by Andre Charland) - skill level: need to be able to go down a blue run without killing yourself :-)
Each group will meet at Cypress at 7p.m. at venue to be determined (probably by ticket office for group 1 and by a lift for group 2)
IMPORTANT:
1. You undertake this event at YOUR own risk. OSCMS and the event coordinators are not liable for any accident or injury.
2. Rentals are available at Cypress as well as in Vancouver ski shops. Unless you are as a good a skier as Andre, I suggest that Cypress rentals will be good enough!
