About
The OSCMS Summit (aka the Open Source Content Management Systems and Blogging Tools Summit) was conceived as a place to gather together Free and Open Source Software developers who are all working in the problem space of managing web content. The great advantage that open tools have is that they can cooperate in solving these problems collectively, sharing ideas and even code directly.
The summit is developer focused, free of charge, and anyone is welcome. Some of the more general sessions (like intros to the various projects) will likely be of interest to many people -- you are welcome to attend any of the sessions you are interested in.
As well, the summit hopes to be a kind of container for individual projects to organize meetups or gatherings, making it easier for open projects to dedicate space and time, and spreading the load of organizing, sponsorship, and other duties.
While we are putting together a schedule and assigning time slots, more BarCamp-like concepts like the Open Space are certainly encouraged. Look at the schedule and feel free to contact us with ideas for remaining slots. Rooms will also be available on a first come, first served basis, for code hacking
Lastly, let's be clear that this is a completely bootstrapped conference. It was conceived of at the end of November (see first post) and everything has come together since then. The "related" conference happening in a similar time frame is the Northern Voice conference on the 10th and 11th, with Friday the 10th (the day after OSCMS Summit) being Moose Camp, which may be of more interest to hackers, demo days, or other collaborative activities.
Please say thank you to all our sponsors and the organizing team!
